Professor Karlen Lyons-Ruth is Honourary Professor of Developmental Psychology at Heriot-Watt University and a distinguished B*A*I*R*N*S (Biosocial and Intervention Research Network Scotland) collaborator. When not visiting Scotland, she is Associate Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School (USA) and is one of the foremost experts in the world on disorganized infant attachment. Her Biobehavioral Family Studies Center at Harvard is one of just a handful of groups to have followed the development of a hard-to-reach multi-risk sample from infancy to age 25, focusing on the longitudinal mental health outcomes of troubled mother-infant bonds in interaction with biological markers.
