What Are The Different Types Of Vein Conditions?

There are two most prominent kinds of vein conditions – Varicose Vein and Spider Veins. These vein conditions show their physical symptoms such as burning, restlessness during night and fatigue. Varicose and spider veins mostly appear on the legs and are red, blue or purple in color.

Varicose Veins

Most of the varicose veins are painful and comfortable. They make bumpy appearance on the back of our legs, or between the groin and ankle. Some of the symptoms include itching, swollen ankles, restless legs, pain in the legs and fatigue. If the problem gets serious it can lead to ulcers, thereby lowering the quality of a person’s life.

  • Causes

As per the National Institutes of Health (NIH), there are several factors which can lead to varicose veins. Sometimes, this varicose vein condition may even be hereditary. However, the most common causes of varicose veins include pregnancy, age, increase in weight or obesity, and not moving too often. Sometimes people even suffer from varicose veins due to their job conditions such as sitting or standing for too long.

  • Treatment

The treatment of varicose veins may include radiofrequency, laser ablation, and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy. Check www.incredibleveins.com to know all the possible ways of treatment.

Spider Veins

Spider veins are cluster of blood vessels forming a spider web like structure just below the skin’s surface. These are usually red, blue or purple in color and can be seen around thighs, face and lower legs. Spider veins may lead to burning or itching, and sometimes may not show any physical symptoms.

  • Causes

Spider veins are too caused due to venous insufficiency. Veins carry the impure blood from the body to heart for purification and then circulate it around the body. To ensure that the blood flows upward, every vein has small valves. When heart pumps, the blood moves through the valves. When these valves fail to transfer the blood and break, the pools are formed. These lead to the formation of spider veins.

  • Treatment

Spider Veins can be prevented by certain risk factors. Nevertheless, it can be cured by visual sclerotherapy. The chemical sclerosant is inserted into the veins. This ensures that the veins are closed and that the blood gets to flow through the healthy veins. The body usually reabsorbs the treated veins.

Deep Vein Thrombosis

When the blood gets clotted into the deep veins of the body, it leads to deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Some of the prominent symptoms of DVT include swelling of legs and arms, enlarged veins or blue and red patches on the skin.

  • Causes

DVT usually occurs due to obesity, pregnancy and age. Health problems such cancer, heart diseases also increase the risk of DVT. An injury on the vein can also lead to DVT.

  • Treatment

Blood thinners are used by doctors to treat the DVT. If blood thinners do not help, the inferior vena cava filters are used for treating DVT.

These are some of the prominent vein conditions. It is recommended to treat them in time. If they are left untreated, it can prove to be dangerous.
