How To Have A Fun Weekend Without Drinking

Alcohol is a core component of many social plans. Some people just naturally incorporate it into their meetings with friends, and for many people, this isn’t something that’s necessarily problematic. Your drinking doesn’t need to be at a stage where you consider to be obviously worrying for you to be interested in ways of cutting down your drinking, even if that just means having every other weekend off.

However, if it is something that you typically do most weekends, the natural question to ask next is, what will you do instead? The answer is fortunately much more varied than you might initially think, so it’s all about finding what resonates with you.

A Love Of Food

Perhaps the answer lies in changing the focus. Instead of looking forward to drinking, you might be able to change the focal point of the weekend to food. This might mean that you and your friends cook up a storm at home, combining it with a night in (more on that later), but it might also be that you want to take the pressure and effort surrounding the process off your own back, leading you to a restaurant instead. Natural Places

While you might be used to going out to cities and bars and even restaurants in your free time, you might not be so used to taking yourself to more natural spaces. This might be less about doing something familiar without the alcoholic aspect and more about doing something entirely new. Exploring national parks, going camping, cycling, or hiking, these are things that can make you much more aware of green spaces around you, as well as the positive effect that they can have on your health.

While the idea of substituting your social events with exercise might not immediately be the most appealing, giving it a chance might lead it to becoming something that you feel much more positive about moving forward.

The Cozy Night In

There’s a certain appeal to the idea of a night in, either alone or with friends. Curling up on the sofa with snacks and blankets while playing games or watching TV and movies can be just about as relaxing as it gets, and it’s a great way to unwind that doesn’t require you to do anything at all. Of course, what might not appeal to some people about this option is something that’s core to its very nature, the fact that it’s not inherently social or event-like. To others, though, that’s what will be such a selling point for it and it’s always worth remembering that this is something that you can do with any number of friends if you want to crank up the social aspect.
