The Latest Innovations In Care Home Care

Technology has entered almost every industry and has shown promising results. In health care units, technology has improved the overall health system. Take a look at some of the latest technology innovation that has changed the face of the healthcare system and care home in Waltham Abbey.

Air deliveries

Drone-delivered medical supplies are currently in the news. Some companies are conducting a trial for air deliveries where urine, blood, tissues, medical supplies and other samples can be delivered from hospitals to care homes without any hassle. In Ghana and Rwanda, Silicon Valley has taken the initiative to supply medical units to rural villages using drones.

Physiological monitoring

Perhaps the most important and common type of physiological monitoring is temperature measurement, which can be done with Medical Thermometers that can continuously track a patient’s temperature. Passive telemonitoring devices include bed sensors that check sleep patterns and interruptions, pulse, respirations and restlessness. Whereas, active home telemonitoring devices can capture symptoms, weight and other vital signs of the elderly and report them to the health care providers.

Safety

Security and safety should be provided to people staying in old-age homes and care homes. Active alarm systems can sense flood and fire and passive systems can detect heat and motion sensors. Cameras and CCTVs closely monitor the activities of elderly people and visitors. Cameras are installed in the visitor spaces and residential areas. Passive systems use sensors to capture any unusual behaviour.

Detect emergencies

Some technologies can detect falls and save people instantly. It also includes an emergency response system which can help people to call help during any emergency. Basically, one needs to wear this system and press a button in the time of emergency. Passive system technologies are placed in the carpets to detect falls.

Cognitive and sensory activity

Active systems generate reminders and alerts helping to find lost objects or medicines. Passive technologies are operated in the background and alert the health care providers when something goes wrong.

These are a few latest technological inventions which you can find in healthcare units and care homes. With time, more advancement will be noticed in this field shortly, making the systems more operational and saving more lives in the long run. If you have an elderly individual in your home and you are planning to make him/her stay in a care home, make sure that the unit has advanced facilities which can monitor all the activities of the patients. This will not only give you peace of mind but also keep your elderly parents safe.
