3 Heart Valve Disorders You Should Be Aware Of

The problem of heart diseases has become a common scenario these days due to poor lifestyle. Among the other heart diseases, valve disorder is a common scenario. Here are some of them that you should know.

Valvular Stenosis

This is a disorder where due to the stiffening of the heart valves can lead to narrowing of the size. Later on, it leads to blood flow restriction, which is known as valve stenosis. It is one of the common heart valve disorders and if the disorder continues, then a heart attack might occur. With time, valvular stenosis prevents the valve from opening completely. This in turn lowers the blood flow and the passage of the blood flow reduces as well.

Valvular stenosis includes tricuspid valve stenosis, pulmonary stenosis, and mitral valve stenosis. In case the size of the tricuspid valve reduces, blood flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle becomes difficult. If the pulmonary valve narrows, then it becomes difficult for the oxygen-deprived blood to flow from the right ventricle to the lungs.

Valvular Prolapse

Valvular prolapse is yet another heart valve disorder that you should be aware of if you suffer from heart disease. In this condition, the valve leaflets either do not stay in place or bulge out. Due to this reason, the problem of uneven closing of the heart valve becomes a common scenario. Hence, the problem of backward moving of blood begins. Along with that, one-way blood flow hampers. Unlike mitral valve stenosis, the condition that prevails here is the mitral valve prolapse.

Apart from that, tricuspid and pulmonary valve prolapse is a part of the valvular prolapse. People suffering from valvular prolapse should always remain aware of the bulging of the valves. This happens only when the blood leaks backward through regurgitation. When it comes to the tricuspid and pulmonary valve prolapse, the valve leaflets fail to close completely. Hence, the tight sealing procedure remains incomplete.

Regurgitation

The process of regurgitation can take place if the valve fails to close completely. This leads to the blood flow in a backward direction. You should be aware of the fact that the backward blow flow puts heavy pressure on your heart. Over time, your heart becomes incapable of blood pumping abilities. With time, your heart will reduce the capacity of supplying oxygen-rich blood to your body. It is one of the common heart valve disorders, which people face after reaching fifties or even sixties.

Hence, these are some of the common heart valve disorders, which people should be aware of every time.
